講題 : Navigation safety modelling for autonomous ship

Abstract
Autonomous ships are soon to be a reality. This presentation will share about the latest policy, project updates, and technology trends sharping the autonomous ships. The autonomous and safe navigation for autonomous ships is being achieved in restricted waterways. The research of safe navigation for autonomous ships will be discussed. The kernel of this safe navigation model is based on a layered structure from the stimulus-response perspective, and to introduce the safety field to quantify the collision risk perception and pre-warning by considering ship distance, speed and navigation environmental factors. The model can be used in the decision support system for safe navigation or be included in the process of autonomous navigation.

講題 : DEA in Maritime transport

Abstract
Efficiency in maritime transport is critical. Container shipping companies often need to compare productivity among partnerships. Ports serve as important interfaces between inland and maritime transport and play a significant role in boosting a country's trade and economic growth. There are various data envelopment analysis (DEA) models, such as block-box DEA, network DEA, and dynamic network DEA, used in the literature. In recent years, these models have been extended, proposed, and applied to evaluate the efficiency of ports and container shipping companies in different countries. This presentation aims to provide an overview of several DEA models offered over the years and demonstrate how they have been applied to measure the efficiency of ports and container shipping companies. This will help the academic community develop a better understanding of how to manage maritime transport systems for better performance.

He received his Ph.D. from National Taiwan University, Taiwan,His research interests include the Transportation Economics and Management, Logistics, particularly the Productivity and Efficiency Analysis in Transportation and Logistics. He has applied the DEA approach in various fields including airports, airlines, railways, bus transit, shipping companies, sea ports, banks, hotels, hospitals, farmers’ cooperatives, IC design firms, road maintenance, incineration plants and tax offices. He has co-authored over 100 refereed academic publications in the efficiency and productivity analysis area, including applications of DEA.

講題 : Application of SEM in Empirical Studies of Maritime Transport and Logistics Management

Abstract
Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) is one of the common multivariate statistical analysis techniques that is employed by researchers to examine the cause effect. To examine the impact of management practices or strategies on companies’ performance, the SEM has been widely applied in the shipping and logistics marketing and strategic management fields. Recently, various papers have performed the SEM to examine the mediating and moderating effects. To help the researchers have a better understanding of how to apply the SEM in maritime transport and logistics research, this presentation aims to provide an overview of the SEM model, including the basic components of SEM, analytical steps, and an empirical SEM case will be demonstrated.
